While Goa’s endless festivals and vibrant cultural scene has made the State synonymous with enjoyment, there are times when fun-filled days take a backseat. For Goa’s Catholics, the penitential season of Lent is such a time – an opportunity for reflection, renewal and deeper understanding of their faith.

This year, Fr Savio Fernandes invites Catholics to embark on a transformative journey that combines a unique motorcycle tour with meaningful stops that reflect the spirit of this sacred season.

On Sunday, April 6, 2025, participants will get the opportunity to experience ‘The Easter Story’ — a half-day motorcycle tour that promises not only a physical adventure but also a spiritual one.

JOURNEY OF FAITH AND REFLECTION

The half-day tour will take participants on a journey that weaves together sacred rituals, prayers, and the Stations of the Cross.

During this experience, they will not only explore key locations that symbolise the Christian journey of suffering and redemption, but also be able to immerse themselves in the acts of charity and service that embody the Christian mission.

Fr Savio, who is the assistant director of Caritas Goa, will lead this impactful motorcycle tour.

Throughout the session, participants will visit some of the most important and meaningful places in Goa that reflect the Christian values of love, compassion, and charity.

ABOUT THE TOUR

Throughout the session, participants will visit some of the most important and meaningful places in Goa that reflect the Christian values of love, compassion, and charity. The itinerary will be as follows:

  • 8 am: Meeting point followed by mass at Obra de Protecao a Mulher (OPM), Nachinola

  • 9.30 am: Arrival at an orphanage in Calangute

  • 10.45 am: Arrival at the Mother Theresa House of Destitute Women, Carambolim

  • 12 noon: Arrival at Shanti Avedna for terminally ill cancer patients, Loutolim

  • 12.45 pm: Visit to a secret religious site (which is otherwise not open to the public) in South Goa

  • 1 pm: Visit to a medicinal spring in Verna

  • 1.15 pm: Traditional canji torashir and dried bombil will be served for lunch in Verna

  • End of the tour

This motorcycle tour isn’t just about visiting places; it’s also about connecting with the deeper meaning of Lent and Easter. Along the way, participants will be able to reflect on the Stations of the Cross, and how these spiritual milestones can influence their life’s journey.

Each stop on the tour represents a key moment in the life and suffering of Christ, and is an opportunity to truly engage with one’s faith — a time for contemplation, prayer and self-reflection.

As this tour includes sacred rituals and experiences rooted in Catholicism, it is reserved for Catholics only.

The tour is offered free of cost, although any voluntary donations would be welcome to help cover expenses.

So, this Lent, make the choice to step outside your routine, embrace the spirit of sacrifice, and experience the richness of your faith with a group of like-minded people.

Don’t miss this soul-stirring, and unforgettable opportunity to walk the path of Christ, reflect on His sufferings, and be renewed spiritually on a motorcycle tour that will stay with you for days to come.
