Apart from gorgeous beaches and delicious cuisine, Goa is also home to a diverse range of performing arts, with music to delight every listener. And if jazz makes your heart skip a beat, here's a treat for you.

From 12-year-old Nigel Rebello to 78-year-old jazz veteran Allan Moraes, these two and 54 other jazz artistes are tuning up their instruments for International Jazz Day and will be performing at a concert in Panjim’s Jardim Garcia de Orta, on April 30, 2025.

For 14 years, Jazz Goa has been the unwavering heartbeat of International Jazz Day celebrations in Goa. Right from its inception in 2012, this annual event has blossomed, drawing an ever-expanding crowd of devoted enthusiasts eager to immerse themselves in this soulful genre of music.

This year's edition promises to be the biggest yet, showcasing a vibrant tapestry of artistes.

International Jazz Day is the world's largest celebration of jazz, and was declared by UNESCO in 2011.

The concert will present jazz in all its glorious forms, from the swinging ’60s right up to today’s electrifying funk and fusion.

Performing live on Jazz Day is the UK’s Westend star, Jan Graveson, along with celebrated artistes like Vivienne Pocha and Merlin D’Souza.

Besides these, some of Goa’s iconic singers like Hemaa Sardesai, Sonia Shirsat, Seby Fernandes and Zezinho Fernandes, will also be performing.

YOUNG BLOOD: Thirteen-year-old Mehaila Rodrigues will launch the concert on her saxophone on April 30.

“Jazz Goa has always been a non-profit organisation offering an audio/video recording studio free of cost to local talent. Our events are never ticketed and all artistes perform pro-bono,” says Colin D’Cruz of Jazz Goa.

"The event itself is kept non-elitist and invites absolute beginners to accomplished professionals every year,” he informs.

Colin adds, “This year, the event will take place at Jardim Garcia de Orta in Panjim from 6 pm onwards. Entry is free with seating on a first come, first served basis.”

If you can't get enough of the 56 featured artistes on International Jazz Day, you are invited to the after party at Take 5 in Candolim on May 1, from 7 pm onwards.

Catch most of the artistes once again in an informal jam session. International Jazz Day is the world's largest celebration of jazz and was declared by UNESCO in 2011.

So, if you love jazz, don't miss this feast for the ears.
