If, even a month and six days after the New Year, you are yet to get started on the resolution to become healthy, then here is your chance to prioritise your health.
As the year began, many looked for ways and ideas to lose that extra weight, while many others searched for healthy options. While some are going strong in the transformation journey, others might have lost enthusiasm.
At times like these, you need someone to motivate you and bring you back on track, and there is no one better than Vinita Kapadia, a personal coach who will train you to achieve your goals.
CHANGING MINDSETS
“When you start attaching emotion to the workout – for instance, when I do a handstand, I feel relieved – so my emotion gets attached to that exercise. I will never leave it, because for me, a workout is to resolve my anger, for someone else, it is to lose weight."
"When someone joins a gym, their goal is to lose weight. I changed that mind set – I make them realise that it’s a circle, and if you perfect one exercise, you will get so obsessed with it, your weight will fall with that,” says Vinita, who believes that the mind plays an important role in fitness.

A JOURNEY TO FITNESS
Vinita’s fitness journey started when she lost her father, her pillar and strength, when she was just 21-years-old.
“I was clueless about what I wanted to do in life. I wanted to be a sports psychologist plus a fashion designer plus a fashion stylist, and I wanted to move to Canada,” says Vinita, as she squats on the floor of the gym she started a few years ago.
"After he passed away, I started working out a lot. Some people associate death with crying, I started working out and my coach asked me if I wanted to work as an assistant gym coach. I agreed,” she recalls.
“I used to work out in the gym or work out at somebody else’s setup. I never had my own setup. I was going to other people’s establishments and teaching. It gets very exhausting to go to Margao and Vasco, and later train someone in Varca," she shares.

"That is when I realised that I had built a clientele, and instead of going to so many places, they can train under one roof,” says Vinita.
She explains that the six components of fitness she teaches are mobility, body weight training, functional strength training, flexibility, endurance and coordination.
FUN WAY TO LOSE WEIGHT
Motivation is important when it comes to exercising, and Vinita has mastered it. Explaining, she says, “Now, you are my client, you come in. I read your body language for that day, and I realise that you are not in the mood to exercise. However, today I have to teach you about core muscles,” says Vinita.
"I know that you will not do the exercise. So, I found a fun modification for it. Ultimately, we are still targeting the core or back, but in a fun manner. To target that one muscle, I have roughly 100 possible ways to exercise. And, the client will never lose interest!” says Vinita.

Every session is designed and planned such that is has a variety of exercises and modifications which makes it fun.
At Kapadia Studio, the standard procedure, when a client reaches out, is a 15 to 20 minute body analytics test. Vinita makes the client perform certain movements and checks out the various aspects which need to be worked on.
These help the clients work on their weak points, instead of just losing weight.
NUTRITION PLAYS A MAJOR ROLE
Vinita believes that nutrition also plays an important role in one’s well-being.
“If I get a Goan client, I make sure that they eat what they regularly eat – fish, curry and rice. But, the preparation style might change, or the portions might change. That way the client eats what is closest to his DNA,” says Vinita.
For a successful fitness routine, there needs to be a holistic approach – weight training, flexibility, mobility, endurance and stamina all go hand in hand – and at Kapadia Studio, you won't be disappointed.
