The Coldplay concerts in India have left behind warm memories for countless fans, and among these are Goa's Wellon Rodrigues and his wife, who flew all the way to Ahmedabad to see the band in action.

“My wife and I stood at the Narendra Modi Stadium for the Coldplay concert for 11 hours straight,” recalls Wellon from Vasco. He had booked tickets two months in advance. Besides his wife, there were two other friends with him.

Coldplay performed at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26, 2025. On Republic Day alone, 1.34 lakh attendance made the show one of the largest ticketed events in India.

“We reached the venue at 1 pm and were at the gate till around 5 pm, when the gigs began. Coldplay entered the venue at 7.45 pm and played till around 10 pm. Those two-and-half hours were the most memorable time of our lives,” adds Wellon.

The concert was a dream come true for many. For some it was a life-changing experience, while others could now tick it off the must-do-things from their bucket lists. The Rodrigues couple and friends weren’t the only Goans at the concert. “There were many Goans we spotted on the flights and around the stands at the concert,” says Wellon.

Among the crowd was Steffy from Cansaulim, who made plans to attend the Coldplay concert from the moment the band announced its India tour.

“We wanted to make sure that we would get tickets for Mumbai, but we had no luck there. After many attempts online, we finally got four tickets on January 25 for the Ahmedabad show. It was such a craze, and the feeling of attending a concert of such magnitude was just wow,” says Steffy.

She adds, “We landed at Ahmedabad on the day of the concert and left the same night from there. I had to go to work on Monday. So we stayed at the Goa airport and got ready there itself. It all happened so fast and quick."

For newlyweds Venezia Paes and Sheldon Pereira, the concert tickets were a gift from the groom to the bride. “Coldplay songs are one among the many Venezia likes to listen. I wasn’t a big fan. So when I got to know of the band's Music of the Spheres world tour, I decided that this would be the best gift I could give her. It was also her first concert,” says Sheldon.

Venezia says, “The light show and vibe of the event was just mind-blowing, especially because it was my first time. The song, Fix You, was a source of comfort for me during tough time of my life. It was a fan moment when Coldplay’s lead vocalist Chris Martin, midway through the concert, stopped his performance when he spotted a fan in distress. He stopped midway while singing My Universe and made sure the girl was safe and continued again. The whole experience was just magical!"

This kind act of Chris Martin is one of the instances which won him many hearts and fan base for life. And, even as the band's tunes filled the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Goan fans left with much more than just songs.
