Having authored several books and literature in the Konkani language, author and Jnanpith awardee, Damodar Mauzo from Goa, will now release another work in English, entitled ‘The Wait And Other Stories,’ which has been translated by Xavier Cota.
The book ‘The Wait And Other Stories’ will be launched on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts, Panjim at 6 pm.
The launch will also include a conversation with writer and editor, José Lourenço and translator, Xavier Cota, which will be moderator by author and playwright, Isabel Santa Rita Vás.
During this event, the author will share interesting insights and anecdotes associated with the book and his journey while working on the book.
The book presents a glimpse of the diverse, cosmopolitan reality of contemporary Goa. It has various stories which delve into the deepest corners of the human psyche, with a little bit of humour attached to it. It reveals several dots that help one connect the stories with reality and events happening all around.
The book is a collection of stories. There is a story based on a young man, who lost the love of his life, but chooses to resolve issues of another couple’s dilemmas.
Similarly, the book has a story of a doctor, who receives a late night call, which takes him down the path of lust and desire, but then the unexpected happens. An interesting tale of a writer, who acquaints himself with a thief who breaks into a house.
