In today’s fast paced world, days turn into weeks, and weeks into months, but what if you could take a step back and create something unique and transformative? A mosaic art workshop in Panjim will teach you just that.
If you love to get messy, the perfect workshop for you is the mosaic making workshop, by Marilyn D’Costa. Here is also where you will learn to arrange colourful pieces of tiles that can help create peace and calm in a changing world.
Based in Benaulim, Marilyn has always loved to be surrounded by art, but it was post the COVID-19 pandemic that she discovered her love for this art form. Her workshop, 'Mosaic, The Wreck' on March 8, at MTW Bar, Panjim, is a must visit, to get a glimpse into the art world.
Says Marilyn as she explains the art, and what participants can expect, “In this workshop, I will be teaching participants the foundational techniques of mosaic art, including how to cut, shape and arrange tiles to create a design."

“We will be exploring different materials, colours, theory and composition. By the end of the session, participants will have the skills to create their own mosaic artwork,” says Marilyn, who besides workshops, also loves working with stained glass and ceramic tiles.
“Stained glass work offers a beautiful range of colours and textures and has a unique reflective quality that adds depth and light to a piece,” says Marilyn, who also incorporates stones and shells into her projects.
Her workshop, 'Mosaic, The Wreck' on March 8, at MTW Bar, Panjim, is a must visit, to get a glimpse into the art world.
Her interest in mosaic art began at a summer camp, where she was introduced to the art form.
“I was fascinated by the ancient mosaics in historic buildings, churches and walls – and I was captivated by how they told stories and captured moments in time. When I returned home, I was eager to experiment with this art form, and I quickly grew fond of breaking and arranging small pieces to create art,” says Marilyn.
Talking to participants, Marilyn advises them that making the perfect mosaic art takes time and dedication.
“However, focusing on enjoying the process and experimenting with different materials is important. Every piece you create is an opportunity to learn and improve, and eventually, you’ll see your skills and confidence grow,” she says.
The workshop is open to all, from complete beginners to those with some experience in mosaic art.
