Dads have always been an essential part of our stories, taking up the roles of quiet supporters, unwavering cheerleaders and steady guiding lights.
This Father’s Day, sharing his own story in a way he knows best, is Chef Ajay Chopra. Inspired by his late father’s favourite dishes, Chef Ajay is giving a heartfelt tribute to his own dad and celebrating all the dad’s out there who love without limits.
“He was a vegetarian who never stopped me from cooking meat,” reminisces Chef Ajay. “He stood by every choice I made — gently, silently, but completely.”
For the first time, Chef Ajay is inviting diners into an intimate chapter of his life, at ‘My Father’s Table’, taking place at Jugnu, Assagao, where he’ll use food as the language of memory, and turn every dish into a personal love letter.
“This menu is my thank-you to him — for letting me be who I am, without ever saying the words,” the chef shares.
Including homestyle classics his father adored, the menu will feature comforting Shaadi Wala Veg Pulao and Mehmano Ke Liye Chole as well as a soul-soothing, slow-cooked Sunday Mutton Curry.
This Father's Day, Chef Ajay Chopra is crafting a heartfelt culinary tribute that blends nostalgia, family memories and bold Indian flavours.
Speaking about how the Father’s Day menu is very special to him, co-founder of Jugnu, Vicky Bachani says, “It’s not only a tribute to Chef Ajay Chopra’s father, but it also reflects the dishes that so many fathers love, which makes it even more meaningful.”
“Food has always been one of my fondest memories with my father. He was an absolute foodie, and our family meals were always filled with warmth, laughter and little life lessons. This menu is a celebration of those cherished moments at the table,” Bachani adds.
Set against the warm and inviting atmosphere of Jugnu’s restored 160-year-old colonial era bungalow, ‘My Father’s Table’ also promises to be more than just a meal.
Featuring live music, fun Beer Olympics, and a space of warmth and nostalgia, guests are welcome to create some fun memories with their dads and loved ones.
If there’s one day where you can go overboard and make your dad feel extra special, it’s this weekend. And, if there’s one place where you can be part of a deeply personal and limited-time dining experience, it has to be Jugnu where the food tastes like memory, and the ambience like home.
So be there, and make this Father's Day unforgettable!
