Anushka Vernekar, a local from Goa, brought Florence and Co to life in 2021. This special scented luxury brand not only changes how spaces feel but also pushes us to think more about taking care of the Earth. Anushka is not just the founder, she's also the creator behind everything.
Her products include candles, melts, mists and diffusers – all made with a lot of love and attention to detail. The fragrances she creates are unique and personal, making your home smell amazing in the most unique way.
Florence and Co is very serious about helping the planet and you. They make sure their products are kind to nature, using ingredients like soy wax and fragrance oils that come from responsible sources in Goa and beyond.
They have made over 80 different fragrances. They even go a step further by making customised gift boxes and hampers for special occasions, all with local stuff that shows off the beauty of Goa.
Anushka started Florence and Co because she wanted to use safe and good-quality candles. This meant keeping in mind her own well-being as well as that of her pets and the planet.
Her business also helps street animals by giving them food and support. Even though she still helps animals, she's also focused on making Florence and Co bigger and better. While she primarily sells on Instagram, she occasionally has pop-up stalls/shops around the state.
One of Anushka’s favourite scents is called Mocha Strudel. It's a limited-edition fragrance that smells like butter, cream, sugar, crumbles and coffee. It's cosy and not too strong. Glazed Berry is a crowd favourite. It's a mix of blackberry and mignonette smells.
And don't worry if you have pets – Anushka makes sure her candles are safe for them. Most of them are made from things that won't harm animals, except for a couple. She always puts a warning on those.
Anushka is a role model in a time when taking care of the Earth is super important. She wants to teach her customers why it's great to choose things that are good for the planet. She talks about how soy wax is way better than regular wax, and how it helps save the environment.
Even though some people still pick things that aren't great for nature because they're cheaper, Anushka keeps trying to show everyone why it's worth it to make better choices. Anushka's love for the environment goes beyond her business. She lives her beliefs, like eating plant-based food, wearing slow fashion and not using too much plastic.
Even when it comes to packaging for her brand, Anushka is mindful about the planet. She loves to reuse old boxes and things, and she's not shy about it. But when the client needs fancier packaging, she uses things like jute and cardboard – all friendly to the Earth.
She advises people how to take care of their candles so they last longer. And if something isn't perfect with a product, she sells it with a little discount so nothing goes to waste.
