A year since opening for operations, Manohar International Airport (MIA), developed and operated by GMR Goa International Airport Ltd (GGIAL) witnessed remarkable achievements.
Handling over 3 million passengers since its inauguration on January 5, 2023, MIA has become a pivotal player in transforming Goa’s air traffic landscape.
Boasting increased passenger growth, expanded routes and the launch of international services, MIA now connects to 25 domestic and four international destinations.
All domestic operated airlines – Indigo, Akasa Air, Vistara and Spicejet – are servicing at Mopa, while international destinations are being served by Air India, Oman Air, Indigo and Tui.
CEO of GGIAL, RV Sheshan said, “We, at GMR Goa International Airport, take pride in our last one year’s accomplishments and achievements. We are committed to continuous improvements in our operations going forward.
He also thanked and congratulated every team member of the airport, the Government of India, Government of Goa, various agencies and business associates for their collaborative efforts in these accomplishments.
Breaking historical trends, MIA sustained consistent air traffic throughout the year, defying the traditional decline witnessed during the summer.
The number of domestic destinations connected to Goa has more than doubled, now reaching 29, up from 14 before MIA began operations.
The ongoing Phase 3 Stage 1 expansion, aiming to reach 8 million passengers per annum, is set to be completed before the winter schedule of 2024.
Recognizing MIA’s excellence, the Airports Authority of India ranked MIA among the top 15 airports in India in November 2023 for its rapid ascent in the aviation sector.
MIA’s infrastructure features a Code E/F compliant runway, extensive taxiways and a state-of-the-art passenger terminal building.
It is well-connected with a planned multi-modal infrastructure, including a 6-lane expressway and railway access.
The airport offers a unique and vibrant Goan experience for passengers. From curated fragrances to Goan-themed art galleries, special cuisine outlets and live music, MIA ensures a memorable travel experience.
