LagiKon app, a hyper-local business directory, was launched by Margao Municipal Council chairperson Damodar Shirodkar in the presence of the councillors of the Margao Municipal Council on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day.
The LagiKon app and website aim at listing each and every business activity in the state with a special emphasis on small businesses in rural areas.
Hundreds of shops selling diverse products and services in Margao New Municipal Market are available on the LagiKon app and website, making it Goa’s first digital market space.
Speaking to the media after the launch, Margao chairperson Damodar Shirodkar commended the promoters of the LagiKon app for launching this unique initiative from Goa’s commercial capital, Margao.
“The LagiKon app and website will immensely help the small businesses to improve their customer base and at the same time benefit the customers to find the nearest shops,” Damodar Shirodkar said.
Margao New Market Traders Association President Vinod Shirodkar said that the Margao market is one of the oldest markets of Goa and the complete digitisation of this market will help attract new customers to this market.
This compact market sells a wide range of products, especially some exclusive and typical Goan products. This app will help people across Goa and also tourists visiting the state to know about unique products available here.
While explaining the objective of this initiative, the promoter of the LagiKon app Niraj Naik said, “We want to connect the customers with the businesses in their vicinity. The whole objective of the initiative is to bring every business operating in the remotest part of Goa on this app and help them to take advantage of information technology. Besides business info, this app will also contain useful data such as tourist attractions, social infrastructure, etc.”
