I’ve been fortunate to share my music in various genres. While I didn’t pursue a formal education in music, I’ve learned through practice, self-study and a deep connection to my roots. Over the years, my music has resonated with audiences worldwide, and it’s been a humbling experience to connect with listeners through my songs.”
Suzonn is incredibly excited to be in Goa. He said, “This is my first time performing in Goa, and I’m incredibly excited. The energy and warmth of the Goan audience are unmatched, and I can’t wait to share my music in Goa.”
Will Goa add anything to Suzonn’s music career? Does Goa or do Goans have something to offer Suzonn as a musician? Suzonn said, “Goa has a unique place in the music scene and performing in Goa will add a special dimension to my music career. The vibrant music culture and the diverse, open-minded audience in Goa offer a creative space where I can experiment and connect on a deeper level. As an artist, I believe every place and its people have something to offer and Goa has certainly been a source of inspiration and support for me.”
Suzonn writes the lyrics and composes the music. He says, “Life itself is my biggest source of inspiration. I draw from everyday experiences, emotions, and observations. Love, separation, hope and social issues are universal themes that I often explore in my songs. The simplicity of melodies and the depth of lyrics come from the genuine moments that shape our lives. I’m also inspired by the beauty of nature and the rich cultural tapestry of my home in Assam, which frequently finds its way into my music.”
One of Suzonn’s songs that I continue to listen to is “Farq Hai!”, Suzonn explained it as he said, “Farq Hai! is a song that explores the differences and distances that can arise in relationships. The phrase ‘Farq Hai!’ translates to ‘There is a difference’, and the song focuses on the hidden emotions and traumas an individual carries due to societal prejudices, discrimination, classism and other inequalities. As for my songwriting, it’s about being honest and vulnerable with my emotions. I believe that when we write from the heart, our words naturally resonate with others.”
In an earlier interview, Suzonn said, “I too believe in making a change through my art.” Asked whether his music has done it so far, he said, “Yes, I do believe that music has the power to bring about change. Through my art, I hope to inspire introspection, empathy and positive action. Whether it’s shedding light on social issues, advocating for love and unity, or simply helping someone through a tough time, I’ve seen the impact music can have on people. The change I seek is to touch hearts, spread positivity and make the world a better place, even if it’s one song at a time.”
Suzonn aims to create a lasting impact through music, connecting with a wide audience on a personal level, advocating for healthy competition, growth, creativity and focus on finding one’s niche.
Speaking on the challenges he faces he said, “Writing lyrics can be a beautiful and challenging process. Finding the right words to express an emotion or a story can take time. It’s important to strike a balance between simplicity and depth. In the production phase, bringing a song to life can also be a complex journey. Collaborating with talented musicians and ensuring that the sound aligns with the emotions in the lyrics can be quite challenging. It’s all part of the creative process, and the struggles ultimately lead to growth.”
Suzonn says the best piece of advice he has received in the music industry is to stay true to himself and his vision. He said, “It's important not to compromise on your artistic integrity. Be open to learning and evolving but never lose sight of your unique voice. Your authenticity is what will set you apart in the industry.”
Suzonn is working on a project focusing on heartbreak and bittersweet memories from a relationship. He believes music is a universal language that connects people and can uplift, heal, and inspire. Expressing gratitude to his supporters he said, “It’s their support that keeps me going and inspires me to create more music. I’m excited to share my upcoming projects with all of you and I look forward to connecting with you through the power of music. Thank you for being a part of this wonderful journey with me.”
Ending the conversation on a positive note and speaking to young musicians in Goa and beyond he said, “Never stop believing in your passion for music. Embrace your uniqueness and cultivate your own sound. Stay dedicated to your craft, be persistent, and don’t be discouraged by challenges. Keep creating and sharing your art with the world.”
