Despite facing its share of negative publicity, Goa has earned the thrid spot on Booking.com's list of the 10 most welcoming places in India, as part of the 13th edition of the prestigious Traveller Review Awards 2025, solidifying its reputation as a top destination for travellers.

The 10 most welcoming places have been unveiled based on over 360 million verified customer reviews that point out travellers are increasingly drawn to authentic and immersive experiences shaped by exceptional hospitality and service.

Goa consistently makes it to the list of top 5 ‘Most Welcoming Regions’ in India, and this year takes the third spot. It climbed from its fourth place in 2023 to securing the second position in 2024 and continuing to secure its place in the top 5 in 2025 as well.

Further to this recognition, Agonda has been named in 2025’s top 10 most welcoming places in India. Within Goa, Agonda, Palolem, Vagator, Anjuna and Candolim have been named the most welcoming places, showcasing their popularity.

In India, 15,674 partners were awarded, including 7919 in homes (up from 13,348 properties in 2024). Hotels remain a popular accommodation choice with 5,709 recipients in India, followed by homestays (2,438), apartments (1,651), resorts (1,172) and guest houses (1,160) reflecting a growing preference for unique and personalized travel experiences beyond traditional hotel stays.

Determined by the share of accommodation partners receiving a Traveller Review Award in a certain city as a proportion of the total properties in that destination, this year’s Most Welcoming Cities and Regions in India list showcases a diverse array of incredible destinations from around the country.
