For Goan food the way Mum made it, visit Mum’s Kitchen
Goa, known for its vibrant food culture, is home to many restaurants offering a variety of international cuisines. However, if you're craving authentic Goan dishes, one restaurant — Mum's Kitchen — stands out.
Located in Miramar, Mum’s Kitchen is more than just a place to eat, it offers an immersive experience, making you feel at home with every bite.
With 80 to 120 Goan dishes, this restaurant specialises in, both, Catholic and Saraswat-style preparations, making it a true culinary gem. Owner of the restaurants, Suzette Martins, is passionate about showcasing the depth of Goan cuisine.
She emphasises, “There are so many Goan dishes to try out and they go beyond Cafreal and fish thali.”
Her mission is clear: “I want the generations to come to know what Goan foods are available, and so I have ensured our menu is only Goan cuisine and nothing else.” This dedication to preserving traditional Goan flavours sets Mum's Kitchen apart.
The reason we have a few tables is because we want to focus on quality over quantity. When you try to increase the number of tables, the quality tends to drop, and I don’t want that to happen at Mum’s Kitchen.

As you step through the charming gate of Mum’s Kitchen, you are transported into a peaceful oasis, away from the bustling streets of Miramar.
The lush greenery surrounding the restaurant offers a relaxing retreat, with a serene pond and beautiful plants that enhance the calming atmosphere. Inside, the warm hospitality of the staff and the soft background tunes of Goan music create a welcoming and cozy ambience.
Suzette explains, “The reason we have a few tables is because we want to focus on quality over quantity. When you try to increase the number of tables, the quality tends to drop, and I don’t want that to happen at Mum’s Kitchen.”
Her commitment to quality is evident in every dish served. Using locally-sourced produce and even growing some of her own ingredients in a mini garden, Suzette ensures that the food is fresh and environmentally sustainable.
The fish served at Mum’s Kitchen is sourced from local canoes, not trawlers, highlighting their commitment to reducing environmental impact.
Another exciting venture by Suzette is The Xacuti Co., a unique project dedicated to exploring the different variations of Goan Xacuti. “The preparation of Xacuti varies depending on the condiments used, so much so that each of the five types taste, look and are prepared differently,” Suzette shares.
The Xacuti Co. operates on a pre-order basis, and caters to bulk requests for events like picnics and parties.

So, the next time you're in Goa, don’t miss the chance to visit Mum's Kitchen for an unforgettable dining experience that celebrates the true essence of Goan cuisine.
